We are an independent, US-focused team that reviews the offshore online casinos, crypto casinos and sportsbooks that actually accept American players — then ranks them on whether they pay.
Appalachia & Beyond exists for the American who searches "best online casino" and gets handed a list of apps that won't take their sign-up. Most US players live in a state with no regulated real-money option. We cover the sites that fill that gap — honestly, and with our own money on the line.
We are a small editorial team based in the United States. We are not a casino, a sportsbook or a payment processor. We do not run games, hold player funds, or take bets. We are reviewers.
Our focus is narrow on purpose: offshore online casinos, crypto casinos and sportsbooks that accept US players in all 50 states. These operators are licensed outside the United States — in places like Curaçao, Anjouan, Panama and Costa Rica. Every review on this site is written by a named person and links back to their profile on our authors page.
Only seven US states license their own real-money online casinos. That leaves roughly 43 states where no company can legally offer residents online slots or table games. Those players still want to play. Many of them end up at whatever site ranks first on Google, with no way to tell a reliable operator from one that stalls withdrawals forever.
Our job is to sort that out. We help players in the states with no regulated option find offshore sites that pay, name the ones that don't, and explain the trade-offs in plain language. If a site is good, we say so. If it isn't, we leave it off the list.
We test the way a real player would, because that is the only way to know whether a site works. For each operator we open a genuine account, deposit real money, claim the advertised offer, play, and then — the step most review sites skip — request a withdrawal and time how long it takes to arrive. A site only ranks here if the cash comes back.
We re-check the sites we rank on a rolling basis. Bonuses, banking options and restricted-state lists change often, so we update pages when the facts change and stamp each page with the date we last reviewed it. If an operator starts stalling payouts or voiding winnings, it drops off the list, regardless of how it ranked before.
Payout testing and player experience decide our ranking order. What matters is whether a cashier pays and how a real account behaves — full stop.
We cover real-money gambling, so we take player safety seriously. Offshore operators are not part of US state self-exclusion programs, which changes how you have to protect yourself. Read our responsible gambling guide before you deposit — it covers deposit limits, cool-off tools, self-exclusion and where to get help.
Gambling should be entertainment you can afford to lose — never income. If it stops being fun, step away and reach out.
Have a correction, a question about our methodology, or a tip about an operator? We read everything. Email us at editorial@appalachiaandbeyond.com or use our contact page. We do not offer gambling accounts and cannot help with an operator dispute — those go to the operator's support team and, if you need it, 1-800-GAMBLER.
